At Lynoras in West Palm Beach, the culinary traditions of the Abbenante family will wow your senses!
In 1974 Raffaele and Maria Abbenante immigrated from the tiny Italian island known as Ponza and began selling pizza by the slice in Lake Worth.
Maria, using her Mom’s traditional Italian recipes, opened Lynora’s Restaurant on Lake Worth Road just west of Military Trail in 1976. Using the secret of traditional Italian cooks, making each dish fresh with the finest local sourced products. Over the next 35 years the family; parents and children served thousands of residents and visitors traditional Italian food. Lynoras became known as the Best Italian restaurant in South Florida.
The Lake Worth Road restaurant closed in 2003 and Rafaelle and Maria planned to retire. But soon another opportunity arose and they came out of retirement “it was difficult to leave the restaurant business when cooking and serving guest runs through your veins”. In 2014 the Abbenante family united to open the new Lynoras combining the best recipes from the past with new alternative dishes.

INSALATA RUCOLA | arugula, shaved parmigiana, truffle mustard vinaigrette
This may look like a simple salad, but I could have easily licked the plate. The truffle mustard vinaigrette and parmesan shavings balanced out the arugula perfectly.
BURRATA | arugula, avocado, tomatoes, EVOO
This creamy burrata was deeeeeelicous and served with the perfect accompaniments + a beautiful presentation.
ARAGOSTA RAVIOLI | lobster meat, chopped shrimp, salsa di aragosta, cognac cream sauce
The ravioli is cooked to perfection with a firm textured pasta. This dish is heavenly, yet, sinfully rich with cream sauce, shrimp and lobster.
BRACIOLE CON GNOCCHI | braised pork rolled with prosciutto, garlic, reggiano cheese, served over housemade gnocchi
The cheese is plentiful in this dish – the housemade gnocchi is actually ALL cheese! Yup, no potato in this rendition, resulting in a nice firm texture. With an abundance of reggiano cheese in the sauce that covers the gnocchi and a fresh tomato sauce on the braciole.
CANNOLI| housemade ricotta, dark chocolate
The cannoli’s are made to order, resulting in a delicate, crunchy crust filled with luscious ricotta and coated with delightful bits of chocolate. Wash it down with some housemade creamy limoncello which took 79 days to make!
TIRAMISU CLASSICO | espresso coffee, dark chocolate
I really appreciate all the details put into the preparation of the desserts at Lynora’s – layers & layers of goodness.
This is what is referred to as a “sweet bite” (not on the menu) created by Raffaele for those who want some sweetness without committing to a full dessert. Don’t let the small size fool you – these little cream puff-like babies are indulgent and pack a love punch to the taste buds. Wash it down with some classic limoncello.
I quickly fell in love with this family owned and operated establishment, it’s lovely ambiance and authentic Italian food with its own personality inspired by the Abbenante’s. I’m looking forward to a sister location: Lynora’s Kitchen – expected to open in late 2016.
