Where can I get a good Italian Sub around here? If you’ve asked yourself this question, look no further than V and S Italian Deli. V & S is one of those “hole in the wall” gems, established in 1985.
On this day of Tuesday March 18th 2014, my fellow BocaLocals Meatball judges and I are at V & S to check out their meatballs!
ready, set, MEATBALL:
Salvatore (part owner) tells us about this 100% (local sourced) beef, ball.
Some details about the V & S meatball: it is baked and other ingredients include fresh garlic, pecorino romano, house made bread crumbs, parsley. The texture of this meatball was a bit too firm for my own personal preference, but it was tasty!
Wondering about that sub I mentioned earlier? Dont worry, us foodies couldn’t visit V & S without ordering one. Here it is:
There are a few variations offered, this sub is called The V & S Special, there is also another sub called The Italian Combo.
Lets take a closer look at the Special: Sopressata, Mortadela and Provolone
There is house made dressing on the sub (oil vinegar and spices) that you can even buy at V & S by the bottle!
The house made bread:
On this visit, we also tried The V & S Rice Ball (not pictured) which consists of beef, peas, mozzarella, rice, grated cheese and is deep fried. Something we refer to in the nutrition world as a “sometimes food” 😉
Our visit to V & S Italian Deli would not have been complete without some cannoli’s:
The filling is home-made over at V & S and the crust is purchased, The cannoli cream was good and I liked the texture of the crust, nice and crunchy. Nobody wants a mushy crust, unless maybe its at the bottom of an apple pie.
A special thank you to Salvatore for your participation in BocaLocals search for the best meatball in the Boca Raton area and for showcasing other delicious items at V & S.
Stay tuned to find out who wins the March Meatball Madness Competition, results will be announced during the first week in April.
