Savor Our City Culinary Tours has recently expanded the selection of tours available. This post will cover my experience on the inaugural Wilton Manors Tour!
…and we’re off! First stop is Mind Your Manors:
The Mind Your Manors “MYM” Burger — Three meat custom blend burger (short rib, brisket and chuck) with caramelized onion, brie cheese, and thick cut bacon and house prepared garlic mayo on a potato roll. This burger was so good I can see why it made it to the Burger Battle. Lets not forget about the giant home made tater bomb!
Deserves a closer look inside….
The brew: Bells Oberon Pale Ale
Our sampling had me reminiscing of the tour that start it all – The Delray Beach, Savor Atlantic Ave tour which also begins with a burger & a beer tasting at The Office.
Naked Grape Wine and Tapas:
The Naked Grape specializes in small production wines with tonight’s wine sample being a dry Rosé from Spain “Rosa Negra”. The label on the bottle was designed by an artist out of Wynwood Miami.
We sampled delicious assorted cheeses including goat and blue with charcuterie of duck and lamb. Accompanied by some crackers, olives and cherry fennel chutney.
We also got to try one of the signature tapas which was a Spanish Chorizo.
Why Ill be back: Mozzarella made tableside is offered nightly with different flavors if desired. Also, the “many cheese mac and cheese” which is a melting pot, if you will, of different artisan cheeses.
Stonewall Gallery:
Tour participants browse LGBT focused cultural exhibits accompanied by a wine and snack station.
On our way to the next tasting!
Humpy’s Pizza and Cupcakes:
Humpy’s offers speciality pizza’s by the slice or pie, around 12 different types. Mac & Cheese on your pizza, anyone? The 15 flavors of cupcakes are baked daily.. in the pizza oven!
Out Of The Oven Baking Company:
Both a sweet & savory sample for the tour participants!
They offer everything from bread to made to order wedding cakes. Some yummy items in the case that caught my eye include the mini pineapple upside down cakes.
Out of the Oven has been open just 4 months and they will be opening their second location October 1st on 45th street in Oakland Park as The 45th Street Bakery.
Thirteen Restaurant & Bar (not to be confused with their sister restaurant 13|Even):
Fried Chicken Slider house — made cheddar biscuits with fried chicken tossed in Sriracha maple syrup. Served with sweet potato fries.
Pork Chop — butter and sage braised bone in chop served on parsnip mash and apple butter with grilled garlic asparagus.
Both samples were very good! We also had a featured cocktail called The Green Englishman which was tasty. Ill be back for more of those fried chicken sliders.
Our last stop is JP’s Chocolate Shop:
Chocolate covered strawberry’s are a sweet ending to a fun tour!
