Seattle based company Anchorhead Coffee is changing up the way we think about about this beloved beverage with its unique variation of cold brew coffee. Often found in specialty coffee shops, cold brew coffee is characterized by a distinct brewing process and it has been growing in popularity in recent years. I came across Anchorhead’s hopped cold brew and just had to try it! I was not disappointed. It is almost as if you are in an illusion, it is like drinking an IPA and a coffee at the same time, minus the alcohol but with all the flavor. The hoppy sensation is distinct at the back of your mouth while on the initial sip you taste the coffee. Also, I didn’t find it to make me jittery like some other brands of cold brew that I have tried. Nonetheless, I got the caffeinated experience that I look forward to from coffee.

We roast the beans, grind them, and then brew them for twenty hours without heat. This temperature-controlled slow brew leaves us with a coffee concentrate that is 60 percent less acidic than conventionally brewed coffee. The smooth natural flavor of the bean is pronounced in the cold brew process and what you get is a less bitter coffee with rich flavors and a chocolate finish that is a delightful change to the palate.
