Since opening in 2002, Big City Tavern has remained one of South Florida’s most popular dining destinations. Today, the classic American restaurant located on Las Olas Boulevard in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale is celebrating its 14th anniversary with new culinary creations and handcrafted cocktails!
Working with Big Time Restaurant Group Culinary Director Lisabet Summa, Executive Chef Steven Zobel is presenting a variety of new dishes set to compliment the existing menu, which features a mix of house-cured charcuterie, seafood, steaks and salads along with pastas, pizzas, breads, pastries, and desserts made from scratch in-house daily.

Craft Cocktail Sampler
Complimenting Chef Zobel’s menu are several new libations, and the option to enjoy four signature house-made infusions and tap cocktails with the Craft Cocktail Sampler.
Two of the sample cocktails are tequila based, one of which is a house made pineapple, habanero &jalapeno infusion – a bit too spicy for me! I liked the titos vodka berry and ginger beer with bourbon.
Pan Seared Sea Scallops | Candied Bacon, Pecans, Grilled Apples, Aioli
This is one of two scallop dishes on the menu – it is an appetizer. My first thought is: what beautiful plating! The scallops were clearly arranged to give the dish some height. Lots of nice textures going on here – crunchy pecans and candied bacon: yes please. The other scallop dish is an entree, also a pan seared, served with roasted tomato risotto and basil.
NEW Quinoa and Arugula Salad | Vermont cheddar, broccoli, mustard vinaigrette, choice of grilled chicken, wood-grilled shrimp or grilled skirt steak.
A solid option for a salad entree, really tasty! The wood grilled shrimp was delicious although this would be plentiful if you choose to order without it, as the quinoa and cheese will offer you protein.
NEW Maine Lobster Macaroni & Cheese | aged Vermont cheddar
One word: yum!
Carmelized Banana Sundae in a Mason Jar | Banana Bread, Walnuts, Caramel Sauce, Banana Ice Cream, Burnt Marshmallow
Ill take 5 more of those burnt marshmallows 🙂
NEW Layered Latte | Absolut Vanilla Vodka, fresh espresso, Rumchatta, whipped cream
This was my first visit to Big City Tavern and its safe to say that I enjoyed myself. I would definitely come back for the scallop appetizer and the quinoa salad. There are a variety of other new menu items that sound great, too! Also, check out their event line up:

[…] Big City Tavern has been a staple on Las Olas for quiet a while now and for good reason. The design and atmosphere is everything you’d want in a brunch spot. It’s classy and modern with a dark and cozy feel and the food is always delicious. I’ve been there for brunch in the past and it was always good but with the launch of a new brunch menu I couldn’t wait to check it out again. Their brunch menu now has a lot more breakfast items, but fear not there are some non-breakfast classics on there as well. […]
