Chef Duo Creates Seasonal Fare at Jardin: Now Open in West Palm Beach, Florida

Jardin, the globally influenced new restaurant from newlywed chefs Jordan Lerman and Stephanie Cohen, is now serving lunch for hungry downtowners looking for a delicious midday meal. Since opening in late April, Jardin has quickly claimed its status as the hottest new spot in downtown, with fresh takes on seasonal fare.

Lerman is a Palm Beach County native proud to be involved with the dining renaissance currently happening in his hometown. “I always hoped I’d be able to return home to open my own restaurant – and the timing is perfect here in West Palm.  There is a movement afoot, a revitalization that definitely includes the dining scene and Stephanie and I very much want to be a part of it.  We couldn’t be more excited to bring our take on great food made from the highest quality ingredients to our community.”

The South Florida Sage had the pleasure of visiting Jardin for lunch, here is what we tasted:

heirloom tomato and burrata with olives | torn bread | basil

Loved the textures from the creamy burrata and torn bread, the tomatoes were without the skin, which I enjoyed.

These were pretty fantastic, love the concept of a savory madeleine.

Le Jardin with Tito’s vodka | florida strawberries | balsamic | lime

Dangerously good stuff: doesn’t get much more farm-to-cocktail than this drink.

Hand cut ice, bourbon, and a mashmallow… need I say more?

Every day from 4PM-7PM (except Mondays during the summer due to the restaurant’s “Chef’s Grand Tasting” dinner series), guests can enjoy a myriad of food and drink specials perfect for transitioning from day to night.

Happy Hour drink specials include two-for-one craft beer, with bottled beer available for $7 anddraft beer on tap for $8. Already famous for its impressive craft cocktails list, Jardin is offering a bevy of tantalizing libations for only $8 during Happy Hour. Cocktail items include a sweet and tasty Tiki Mai Tai – made with rum, house velvet falernum, and pineapple – among other great choices. Wine lovers can enjoy $5 glasses of house red and white wine during Jardin’s Happy Hour.

Some of the restaurant’s signature snacks are also available at prices designed to please palates and wallets. For $5, guests can munch on popular appetizers like the crispy hummus, southern yellow grits and meatballs and the crispy cauliflower. These small plates serve to inspire guests to journey through the rest of Jardin’s impressive and imaginative menu.

Fries in your salad… whatever it takes to get you to eat your greens! I enjoyed the addition of grilled scallion which went very nicely with the dish but I wish it were cut into smaller / more easy to eat pieces.

Rounding out Jardin’s lunch menu are several tasty sandwich ($12-$16) options, including favorites such as the duck choripan – a riff on a popular South American chorizo sandwich – and the 330 Burger, which comes with house made brioche, tomato jam, brie, pickled onion, house bacon, and an enticing side of herb fries. The crispy chicken sandwich, served with pickled watermelon rind, honey hot sauce, and house mayo, as well as Jardin’s must-have cider glazed porkbelly BLT, are among the many lunch dishes intended to satisfy the cravings of the downtown West Palm Beach crowd.

A unique choice of bread for a fried chicken sandwich, I dig it. The pickled watermelon rind packed a very flavorful punch. A beautiful bed of greens on the side.

A good meal is never complete without dessert. Pastry Chef Stephanie Cohen has created a giant Nutella stuffed cookie served with frothy cold milk for the perfect finish.

This is truly the ultimate cookie for a chocolate lover, so good!

Couldn’t ignore this rad reflection cast from the trees in the garden onto the spoon.

Jardin owners, Lerman (27) and Cohen (26), met at The Culinary Institute of America before garnering experience in some of New York’s most notable restaurants and bakeries including Eleven Madison Park, Momofuku Ssam Bar (Lerman), Ai Fiori and Dominque Ansel Bakery (Cohen).  Upon relocating to South Florida, the two honed their skills at Boca Raton’s Rebel House, he as sous chef and bar manager and she as executive pastry chef. Now, in a perfect union, the two will divide the duties at Jardin:  Lerman as executive chef and bar manager, while Cohen serves as general manager and pastry chef.

Jardin is located at 330 Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach. Lunch is served Monday to Friday, 11AM –2PM and dinner is served nightly, Sunday to Wednesday, 5PM – 10PM; Thursday to Saturday, 5PM – 10:30PM. Weekend brunch is offered Saturday and Sunday from 10AM – 3PM.
