Autumn has arrived at Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar! Sourcing local ingredients from 12 nearby farms and fisheries, Harvest’s new menu features the freshest flavors to celebrate the season.
We loved the summer menu at Harvest Seasonal, so naturally we were excited to try the fall menu!
PEAR MARTINI – Prairie Organic Vodka, The Seeker Riesling, Pear
HARVEST CRANBERRY BOURBON – Basil Hayden’s Bourbon, PAMA Liqueur, Organic Agave Nectar, Cranberries
We’ve had pear Martinis before, but this one seemed to be more natural. Plus, it had an interesting spin by including Riesling. I would like to see a bit more pear in there, though. As for the bourbon, it was unique to have cranberry paired with this spirit. Again, we love the naturalist approach by including whole fresh cranberries in the drink.
WARM BUTTERNUT SQUASH DIP – Asiago, Caramelized Onions, Sage, Crispy Kale, Pumpkin Seeds, Pumpernickel* Crostini
This was one of our favorites of the evening (it’s also a staff favorite, according to our waitress). I never realized how well cheese paired with butternut squash. The Asiago really helped make this a creamy dip.
*They were out of pumpernickel bread during our visit.
CIDER-BRAISED SHORT RIB FLATBREAD – Horseradish-Pumpkin Seed Pesto, Ricotta, Apple-Brussels Sprout Slaw, Pickled Mustard Seeds
Now this was our favorite dish of the evening. I was blown away at how well the ingredients worked together for this flat bread.
WARM AUTUMN SQUASH SALAD – Farro, Red Quinoa, Lentils, Kale, Sheep’s Milk Feta, Dried Cranberries, Maple Dressing
The menu lists this dish as a salad but I would’t really categorize it that way. It’s offered as a half or whole portion. I ordered the whole and added salmon. It was yummy! I would recommend ordering a whole for the table to share. I found it a bit daunting to try and eat all of that acorn squash by myself.
HARVEST MOON CHICKEN – All-Natural Chicken Breast, Sweet Potato Latke, Brussels Sprouts, Apple Relish, Cider Rosemary Reduction
This chicken was super flavorful was juicy! We felt that the latke needed some improvement but overall, a wonderful autumn dish.
PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE – with shortbread cookie and candied sage leaf
Well of course I needed to order the sage dessert! And it was good, too.
PS: they grow their own sage!
If you’re in the fall spirit, head on over to Harvest Seasonal. And if you’re not, a meal like this will get you in the spirit! Chef Ring and his team did a great job transforming the menu for the fall season while utilizing seasonally ingredients in innovative ways.
