Now Open: Terra Mare Restaurant at The Conrad Hotel Fort Lauderdale Beach – The South Florida Sage

Terra Mare is now open in the heart of Fort Lauderdale Beach!

Italian for land and sea, Terra Mare features locally sourced land and sea dining from Executive Chef Johan Svensson. The oceanfront eatery combines elements of its surroundings to provide a casually sophisticated environment, and encourages full plate sharing rather than individual bites, highlighting the communal dining.

Check out our experience below!

Cocktails

Terra Mare features a full bar and outdoor oceanfront seating. Guests can enjoy sweeping views of the Atlantic while relaxing and socializing in the coastal bar or
oceanside patio and lounge. The craft cocktail program offers cold-pressed juices
made in-house, giving guests a taste of the modern cocktail revival.

monkey shoulder whisky drink

Penicillin – monkey shoulder, lemon, honey syrup, house ginger syrup, islay “spritz”

Even if you’re allergic to the real penicillin, I would definitely recommend trying this cocktail. It was a beach drink, but elevated. Props on the seashell garnish with candied ginger.

Snacks

Chilled Lobster with drawn yuzu butter

Enjoy some chilled lobster from the snacks section of the menu if you don’t want to commit to the whole broiled lobster under the Large Plates. It’s the perfect amount for 2 people to share.

Small Plates

terra mare at the conrad ft lauderdale

Heirloom Tomato with stracciatella, crispy prosciutto, basil vinaigrette

If you’ve read my blog before, then you know that I love me some burrata. Well, I didn’t think this was possible, but I love stracciatella even more! It’s actually the best part of the burrata – the creamy inside. The tri-colored heirloom tomatoes on the dish were so fresh and delicious.

Wiki: Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream. The outer shell is solid mozzarella, while the inside contains stracciatella and cream, giving it an unusual, soft texture.

plating jumbo scallops

Seared Scallops with jalapeño-corn sponge, poblano

Is this not one of the prettiest dishes you’ve ever seen? The best part is that it tasted as good as it looks. These jumbo scallops were absolutely delicious and so were the playful oceanic cornbread style sponges.

Entrees

duck

Spiced Duck Breast with ras el hanout, curried lentils

A very sophisticated dish. We enjoyed the crisp exterior of the duck and flavorful lentils.

Dessert

Nutella Chocolate Mousse with sesame tuile, caramel ice cream

Yum, I love chocolate mousse. I enjoyed the textural variety this dessert had to offer. It’s like a delicate ice cream sandwich, except the ice cream is actually on the side!

About Terra Mare: Sweeping panoramic views from the indoors and out showcase stunning beachscapes. Throughout the restaurant, inspiration from the land and the sea combine to achieve a contemporary, yet organic space suited for long conversations with friends. Natural raw earth materials such as real driftwood, sea coral, agate and metals bring outdoor elements inside. Outside, the expansive tiered patio features several fire pits and seating along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The Trident Room offers a creative special occasion dining space, complete with a private oceanfront patio.
