Now Open: TacoCraft Lauderdale By The Sea – The South Florida Sage

Just in queso you didn’t know, TacoCraft is now open in the lovely little beach town known as Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Brought to you by the JEY Group (ROK:BRGR, PizzaCraft, Henry’s), this TacoCraft location is the latest to open from the group joining the South Miami restaurant and flagship spot in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Here is a look at some of the menu items:

Queso Fundido – chihuahua & monterey jack, roasted poblanos, crispy tortilla chips

I love me some thick cut tortilla chips! The cheese is on the thicker side as well, so don’t let it sit for too long.

Chicken Taquitos – braised chicken, queso fresco, crema, avocado tomatillo sauce, pico

I’m happy to see taquitos on the menu. I’m a fan of the crunch. I was expecting whole taquitos to come out when I ordered this, but realized that as appetizer.. it is meant for sharing so it probably makes sense to have it cut as such.

Feeling Cheesy Mexican Street Corn – corn crusted in spicy Cheetos

At TacoCraft, you can choose from 3 variations of Mexican street corn. The other two options are:

  1. Traditionale with cotija cheese, cilantro pesto, lime
  2. Little Piggy crusted in chicharone dust

The Feeling cheesy was pretty good but really could have benefited from having a layer of cotija cheese in addition to the spicy Cheeto crust.

Korean Short Rib Taco – 24hr marinated short rib, sweet & spicy glaze, pickled cucumbers, green onion, gochujang aioli

Crispy Pork Taco – adobo-chile rub, cotija cheese, charred pineapple, salsa verde, crema

Crispy Chicken Taco – southern fried chicken, spicy slaw, crema, pickled fresnos, mikes hot honey drizzle

I like that TacoCraft offers an assortment of tacos ranging from traditional flavor profiles to not so traditional. There are 13 different types of tacos to choose from! With the Taco Platter, pick three. It is served with a side of refried beans & mexican rice.

I wasn’t a fan of the beans and rice. The beans were too liquidy and the rice was ok but not what I was expecting.

And now, let’s take a look at my favorite taco of the evening; Korean Short Rib Taco:

I didn’t try any cocktails during my visit, but do keep in mind that TacoCraft is also a tequila bar! On Mondays, margaritas are $5 after 8 pm. Check out the other specials and all their menus here:

Disclosure: I received a complimentary tasting. All opinions are my own.
