TooJay’s Deli is Now Open in Ft. Lauderdale and Dania Beach – The SoFla Sage

Have you ever been to TooJay’s? If not, it may be a more convenient time then ever with new locations popping up around South Florida. With a variety of items on the menu ranging from breakfast to burgers.. it’s actually more like a diner.

TooJay’s Deli, Bakery, and Restaurant has locations all across Florida including the Dania Beach location with just opened earlier this month and the Ft. Lauderdale location which opened earlier this summer. I recently visited the Ft. Lauderdale location on Federal Highway. Check out my experience below!

We started off with a crunchy sampling of the signature scratch-made potato pancakes served with sour cream and applesauce. If you’re into latkes, you’re in luck! TooJay’s has a few variations available such as the Nova Latkes and Loaded Latkes!

Reuben Sandwich –  Hot corned beef or Turkey, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese with homestyle Russian dressing served on rye bread.

I went with the turkey, which doesn’t give quite the color pop that the corned beef does, but still a nice swirl. I just love the presentation of this dish! TooJay’s is known for it. I needed a lot of Russian dressing to tackle this large sandwich.

Deli Dogs – Two all-beef franks topped with pastrami, Cole slaw & Russian dressing

I love the idea of pastrami and slaw on a hotdog. For me, when it comes to hotdogs, the more fixins the better. It had a nice snap to it. I’m also a fan of steak fries, especially when they are on the crispier side which can probably be requested upon ordering. Also available is the Pastrami burger! Pastrami on everything? Yes please. Oh – and Dr. Browns Black Cherry Soda is a MUST with deli.

(L) Banana Dream Cake – Moist banana cake, rich banana cream, chocolate chips, walnuts and milk chocolate icing. (R) Rice Pudding

One of my favorite things about TooJay’s is actually their Banana Dream Cake. I’m sure I’m not alone on this, in fact – a full cake of it is available for purchase. Someone make note of this for my next birthday – k? thanks! Good rice pudding, too.
