John Offerdahl’s Gridiron Grill-Off Food and Wine Festival: A Celebrity Culinary Grill-Off For Charity
The seventh annual John Offerdahl’s Broward Health Gridiron Grill-Off Food and Wine Festival is a chance to come together for a charitable cause and raise funds to support local charities that “Feed the Needs of Kids in Crisis.”
For seven years John Offerdahl and his wife Lynn contribute to “Feeding the Needs of Kids in Crisis” by contributing 100% of the Gridiron Grill-Off net proceeds to benefit the Offerdahl’s Hand-Off Foundation.
Fans enjoy eating, sampling wines and participating in voting for their favorite recipes through the Gridiron Grill-Off App, which allows you to rate the dishes, 1 – 3, with a 3 being an exceptional grilling cuisine. Fans also participated in competing with NFL legends and Celebrity Chefs by joining the competition in the annual Cornhole Tournament.
McCoy’s Oceanfront at Marriott Pompano Beach 1200 N Ocean Blvd Pompano Beach, FL 33062 Team #9 – Jay Fiedler // Chef Eric Kaszubinski
Fielder’s Grilled Shrimp Confit and Pancetta Boniato Puree with Plantain provided a crunchy, savory and flavorful experience all in one bite that had my taste buds wanting more!
S3 Restaurant – Sun Surf Sand 505 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 // Team #52 – Channing Crowder // Chef Chris Miracolo
Crowder’s Coconut Chili Ceviche was a hit landing S3 Restaurant 1st Place in the Fan Favorites. This by far, hands down was an ultimate favorite. All of the flavors of the Coconut Chili Ceviche were well balanced and complimented each other.
Shula’s Steak House 7601 Miami Lakes Drive Miami Lakes, FL 33014 // Team #347 – Dave Shula // Chef Peter Farrand
Shula’s Gentleman Jack and Ginger Brined Pork Tenderloin was savory with just the right amount of salt from the bacon and apple chutney.
Publix Apron’s // Team #57 – Dwight Stephenson // Chef Rey De La Osa
Dwight’s Tequila Lime Chicken Chipotle stole 4th place in the Fan Favorites. The chipotle provided a hint of spice to the dish, just enough to kick the heat up a notch.
The Grill at Calvary Chapel FTL 2401 W. Cypress Creek Road Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309 // Team #28 – Don McNeal // Chef Kenny Velsor
The McNeal’s Choriqueso Stack could be seen from miles away. The slider was piled high with Pork, Beef and a Plantain resulting in a mouth watering bite every time.
Naked Taco 1111 Collins Ave Miami Beach, FL 33139 // Team #21 – Mark Higgs // Chef Ralph Pagano
Higg’s Key West Mahi-Mahi Taco and Strawberry Jalapeno Margarita complimented each other with ease. Although the taco could have used a little more lime crema, the tangy taco and margarita with a bite of spice left my taste buds in complete bliss.
Offerdahl’s Grill
Salmon BLT was fresh, fulfilling and flavorful!
The BLT included Grilled Salmon, Romaine, Tomatoes, Peppered Maple Bacon, and Chipotle Fennel Sauce on a whole-wheat bun

The Unusual Negroni
1 part Hendrick’s Gin
1 part Lillet Blanc
1 part Aperol
The Unusual Negroni, was to say the least, very unusual. Hendrick’s Unusual Negroni is infused with rose petals and cucumbers, giving the drink a hint of sweetness but not enough to overpower the Hendrick’s Gin. It’s served best chilled and strained into an iced double rocks glass with an orange peel for garnish.
