Brunch at Steak 954 at The W Hotel Ft. Lauderdale – The SoFla Sage

We’re back at Stephen Starr’s Steak 954 where they are now featuring six new brunch speciality cocktails, time for some #SageSips. During our last visit, we had an epic dinner with stunning ocean views. This time, it was rainy and we sat inside. Still, though, a really good meal! Check out our experience below.

a

(L) LE JAPONAIS {indulgent} – vsop armagnac, orgeat, angustura, veuve clicquot

(R) SWEETEST TABOO {sassy} – redemption rye, tawny port, amontillado sherry, coconut water cube

Ah, nothing like a stiff drink on a rainy Sunday. It just seems fitting for some reason to have a strong drink at a steakhouse, even if it is brunch. Orgeat happens to be one of my latest obsessions, so the Le Japonais was the perfect option for me. Orgeat is an almond syrup (think liquid marzipan) with flower water, so good! As for the coconut water ice cube – genius!

On to the brunch items by Chef Jonathan Capo of Steak 954!

Smoked Salmon Benedict with dill hollandaise atop potato pancakes

I’ve had my share of benedicts, especially over the past few years since I’ve started food blogging. I’ve never had one like this though! When I saw it on the menu, my first thought was about how unique it was to have the eggs and such sitting on top of a potato pancake. It was really yummy. The smoked salmon was good. I think it could work nicely with a baked or sauteed piece of salmon as well.

Big Eye Tuna Tacos

These were awesome! I now know why these are a signature item on the menu. Most of the times that I’ve had tuna tacos, they have an Asian flare to them. These are different, no wonton shell. The classic taco shell with shredded lettuce worked surprisingly well here.

c

Blueberry Pancakes, Chantilly Cream

These were fluffy and deeeeelish. My only complaint is that there wasn’t enough blueberries.

Last but certainly not least, Pastry Chef Sarah Magoon’s Housemade Pop Tarts!

d

Nutella S’mores and Strawberry-Rhubarb Pop Tarts

Always save room for dessert when visiting Steak 954. Especially since these pop tarts are very rich. The flavors change often, but if you get the chance to try these ones, you’re in luck!
